ABOUT THE ART

You'll find original watercolors, giclees, fine art prints, posters, mini-matted prints and art cards. A short description of each type of art is given below. Click here to view art and skip the details.

ORIGINAL WATERCOLORS.
My original art is painted on 300 pound paper with transparent watercolor. Any pigment soluble in water is watercolor, but transparent watercolor is paint you can see through. White paint not used in transparent watercolor, so anything white in the painting is actually unpainted paper. The thickness or weight of the paper is determined by the actual weight of a ream. A ream is 500 sheets. A ream of my paper weighs 300 pounds, so it's called 300 pound. This paper is the thickness of cardboard. Click here enter the original gallery.

GICLÉE
Giclée pronounced "zhee-clay" is a French term meaning spray of ink. It's a high resolution digital process utilizing a wide range of color. Giclées are printed with fade resistant ink on watercolor paper and have the look and feel of original art. They are produced one at a time, editions are usually limited to 100. LIMITED EDITION PRINTS.
Limited edition prints are lithographic four-color prints limited to a finite number that is determined by the artist. They are printed on heavy archival paper with fade resistant ink and are signed and numbered.

ARTIST PROOFS
Once the colors have been adjusted and approved when printing limited editions, Artist Proofs are the first few prints pulled off the press. They are not numbered but have "artist/proof" after my hand signed signature. If available they will be sent upon request at no additional cost. See "Special Requests" field of the order form.

OPEN EDITION PRINTS
These are lithographic four-color prints on heavy archival paper with fade resistant ink. They are signed but not numbered.

POSTERS
Using the lithographic four-color process, posters are usually created to benefit an event and have writing indicating this on the border. They are usually a lighter weight paper and may not use fade resistant ink. When they are framed not showing the border they look like a high quality print. All posters are signed.

Mini-Matted Prints.

Small art that travels in a suitcase. These 5" x 7" images printed on heavy archival paper with fade resistant ink are double matted that fit into a standard 8" x 10" frame. The top mat is white and you pick the under mat from the colors available. Each is signed and packaged in a crystal clear envelope.

Mini-matted prints are all double matted. The outer mat is white. You have a choice of these colors for the inner mat.

Art Cards.

Beautiful 5" x 7" cards printed on heavy archival paper with fade resistant ink, complete with pastel parchment envelope, individually packaged. When you really want to leave a lasting impression there is nothing as elegant as a handwritten note. They are also framable in a standard 5 x 7 frame. PERSONALIZED PRINTS

I am delighted to personalize a print for anyone who asks. Usually it's done on the image, so the art can be framed without showing a white border. PRINT THE RECIPIENTS NAME as you would like to see it. If you have a special message such as "Bob wishes you a happy birthday" please print that. Enter in "Special Requests" field of the order form.

Please allow two weeks for delivery. CALL ME if you have a deadline and I'll make it happen. Framed Original Watercolors are boxed by a professional framer, and shipping charges vary. Call or email for details. Once again, thank you for collecting my art.
